Proposed Changes.
Why are we making these changes?
Heritage
Whilst the building has been under development, we have been recovering some of the primary heritage spaces and have discovered some new historic features that we’d like to reinstate. Some of the building retains modifications from the 1950s and 1970s which are of low architectural significance and are more suitable for the operational parts of the development (such as kitchens and plant rooms). To better utilise the beautiful heritage areas of the building, we are proposing to revise some of the internal layouts to enable more effective use of this space.
Operational
Also, since 2019, the change to flexible and hybrid working means that the offices and executive spaces planned for the upper floors are no longer required. We would like to create better operational clarity around the building and focus on the dining experience of our guests. In order to do this, we are introducing two new kitchen spaces, to allow a better quality of dining and service. These changes will also help ensure the longevity of the building and the success of the venture. We have revised our plans and are seeking a Section 73 application to make these modifications.
There are no planned changes to the operational hours or the provision of a public café on Halkin Street, which will bring a brand-new community space to the area.
